Frankenstein Series.

My new Frankenstein series was a concept I had started using in 2007 with the painting "But I Love Him". I had collaged body parts together to create my own figure. I had tried painting an image that didn't look like the human form was pieced together, this painting was less successful.

I had realized to do this technique I would need to show the appearance of cut edges of paper around some of the elements to give it a collaged look. Later that year I painted "Pick Your Poison".

In 2009 I used the same process with "The Cleansing". With this painting the edges of paper did not work, so I broke up the elements slightly, still giving it the look of a collage. Doing this gave the figure in the bath tub an intense, dispairing look.

One evening I was sitting on my couch, looking at the painting Debi (my wife) had staked claim to as soon as I had painted it. It is a small painting titled "Leaning Head", it was painted in 2005. I had noticed the way I had painted around her lips, that I had actually been using this process much sooner than 2007, I had been using this process since around 1995. I had a painting instructor at Amarillo College, named Rick Peters. He had us create a collage then paint it. The result of this was a painting titled "Tribal Thoughts", I had forgotten about this painting. Through the years I have painted "An Aging Artist Hopes and Dreams Falling by the Wayside", "I.V.", and "I.V.2". All were taking on some form of this creative process.
